First Appointment:

On your first visit to the HMG Physiotherapy Clinic please aim to arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment to enable you to fill in a registration form. If for any reason you are running late for an appointment, please call us to let us know. We require 24 hours notice of cancellation so if you are unable to make your appointment please call or email the day before to avoid incurring any charges.

What to expect from Physiotherapy?

On your first visit your physiotherapist will take a thorough medical history from you and fully assess your problem. They will decide with you on the appropriate course of treatment including goal setting and time scales. Your physiotherapist will then work closely with you to achieve a resolution to your problem because we believe the best results are achieved when you take an active role in your recovery and rehabilitation.

What to wear?

If you have a lower limb problem, please bring a pair of shorts with you as your physio will need to see your knee or ankle. For other problem areas, wear something comfortable and easy to get in and out of, as your physiotherapist may need you to undress to allow them to assess or treat the area. If you are female and have a shoulder or neck problem, please bring a vest top for use in our gym area. If you know that you are going to be working in the gym, bring a change of clothes with you and your trainers if you are having your running style assessed or doing one of our exercise classes.

How long does it take?

The initial consultation takes approximately 45 minutes and usually includes treatment as well if appropriate. Homework may be given in the form of specific exercises, stretches or postural corrections. A follow-up appointment can be made at the end of your initial session if required. Follow up appointments are generally booked for 30 minutes, but longer sessions can be arranged for complex or multi-site problems.
